Allison And Josh ~ Charleston Wedding
Allison is my oldest sister. She found her perfect match in Josh. They live in Brooklyn and chose to have an intimate wedding in Charleston, SC.
There were many beautiful elements that made their day truly special. Alli is six months pregnant in these photos. Her dress was custom made by Rebecca Schoneveld Cheek, a Brooklyn-based designer who specializes in custom maternity bridal gowns. The ribbon Rebecca incorporated into the dress Alli picked up at Hyman Hendler & Sons in Manhattan. The flower hair piece is made of silk with vintage pearls and was ordered on Etsy from Dashley Designs. Alli’s wedding band and engagement ring were custom designed by Mallory May Jewelry in NYC. For her makeup, she consulted with Jessa Blades at Blades Natural Beauty in Brooklyn, who recommended a great array of natural and organic products.
Josh not only baked and assembled the red velvet cake (from scratch!) that was seriously one of the best wedding cakes I’ve ever tasted (and I’ve had my fair share), he also designed the beautiful Ketubah. Our Mother handmade all of the flower decorations on the cake to match the wedding colors. Josh’s 1960s vintage double-breasted pinstripe suit was from Rue Saint Denis in NYC’s East Village, a fantastic shop where everything is NEW vintage.
The people at Lowndes Grove were great, and the setting overlooking the marsh perfect, even on a chilly January day. The beautiful flowers at the wedding were done by the gracious and top-notch Kit Bennett at Lotus Flower in Charleston. The primary flowers were ivory roses and hydrangeas, a motif that Josh incorporated into the Ketubah.
Since the wedding, I’ve become an aunt to Moses Maxwell, who was born in March and who is now three months old. I never imagined I could love him so much.
